Macedonia Church of God in Christ was established in 1960 by founder and pastor Administrative Assistant Dave Jones, Jr. under the leading of the holy spirit.
This house of worship was built upon the bible and the doctrine of the Church of God in Christ as instituted by Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. Harvesting souls was its mission and being bounded by the Desire Housing Project and Florida Housing Project in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans, LA made it the prime location for witnessing. Founder and Pastor Dave Jones Jr. would take to the street corners in these two housing projects preaching the unaldutered gospel and many accepted Christ and followed him to Macedonia Church of God in Christ.
Pastor Jones became known as the “Little Man With The Big Anointed Hands”. Macedonia Church of God in Christ was known as the “hot spot” for prayer, soul searching preaching and teaching, good old fashion jubilee worship, outreach youth ministries and the anointed voices of melody recording choir that traveled throughout Louisiana and the South making history as a Black Choir and a COGIC Choir.
Macedonia has had many challenges but stood the test of times, rebounding from two major hurricanes “Betsy” and “Katrina” that totally destroyed the church. After each storm the people had a mind to rebuild and God restored greater than what was lost.
Macedonia has been the birthplace of many great men and women and all of the glory, honor and praise belong to God.
A blessed church, on a blessed spot of ground, under blessed leadership through God’s grace and mercy – we still STAND.
